I almost talked myself out of writing something today. Normally, if I don’t already have an idea of what I’d like to write when I wake up in the morning I try to let the day play out and see if any sort of theme develops. And today I’ve got nothing. I woke up tired, worked, watched soccer when I got home, watched more soccer on my phone while I was at the gym, ate, then happily told Deana she should watch Grey’s Anatomy because I knew I was going to fall asleep. Not much of a story there.
The schedule I set for myself to write has been a little out of whack lately and that doesn’t help. Either I’m not writing until way late after the Pens have played, or I’m not writing until later at night because I’ve been sluggish after work due to the prior night’s late hours spent watching the Pens. It gets a little hard scrambling for a topic on days like today so my goal this weekend is to try to get a little ahead of the game. All I need are few drafts I can store around for later and have them ready to polish and send out. We’ll see how it goes. For now, I’m going to mark this post as a small but important personal victory. When I write I always want to write something with impact, but writing for the sake of writing is just as important right now. If I’m not grabbing your attention, at least I’m building a habit.
