Time, Thinking, a Jedi Craves These Things

Over the past few months I’ve found myself reading biographies on people that lived well before modern times. One of the things that struck me as particularly interesting was the way writers went about gathering information on their subjects. There were no TV interviews to watch, no documents left behind on the internet, and no living relatives to interview. The best way to learn about the subjects was through the letters they left behind.

Because fame is right around the corner for me and biographies on my life will be in great demand 100 years from now, I thought that leaving behind a trail of letters (digital though they may be) sounded like a great idea. In my opinion, letters are the most illuminating form of communication we have and the idea of experimenting with that was too intriguing to pass over. My younger sister, Lauren, will be participating in an ongoing letter share with me. Where it goes and what we learn about one another I have no idea. Follow along and find out with us.

Happy Anniversary! How long have you been married? Long enough that when I think back to being in your wedding I feel like I’m not even close to the same person. I think your wedding might have been the last time I really put one on college style. I still blame it on the fact that there was poor planning in the limo between your wedding/pictures/reception and all there was to drink was vodka and Sprite. Not a good combo on any level and not a good way to start the night. Or maybe a really good way to start the night depending on what you’re going for.

I’m glad you are committing to the letter deal. It is a challenge to be consistent. Time, thinking, a Jedi craves these things, but it’s like my brain doesn’t care and just always thinks it’d be better to do things “tomorrow”. And it’s not. It’s funny that our instinct isn’t always to do what’s best for ourselves. Examples like this are where the whole “you choose to be happy” thing makes sense even if it’s not a universal truth.

What do you think about Colin Kaepernick starting the kneeling during the anthem trend? I’ve been thinking about that a lot since it started making the rounds on the news, but I’ve yet to write about it. I think I just wanted to be sure about how I felt before I said anything on a more permanent (i.e. blog post) basis. My opinion probably wouldn’t surprise anybody who knows me anyway.

Welp, try not go nuts running from school to dance to piano to swimming lessons.
